Easter Eggstravaganza

Easter Egg Hunt & Easter Extravaganza

Bring the children and their baskets downtown Walnut this Saturday morning for an Egg Hunt at Veteran’s Park greenspace. Egg Hunt starts at 10:30 a.m. with eggs filled with candy, surprises, or a ticket for a larger prize.

After the Egg hunt, walk over to WCBC where kids can enjoy a variety of Easter themed stations including crafts, pinata, games, coloring, and the Easter story.

We will serve hot dogs, chips, and lemonade for everyone.

This is a free event sponsored by Walnut Acres Country Store and Walnut Community Bible Church (WCBC).

Come and have fun.

Live Nativity 2020

Join us this year in continuing the tradition of the Live Nativity at WCBC. Plan to drive through the displays on Friday, Saturday or Sunday evenings between 6 to 8 p.m. December 18th, 19th, and 20th.

Please note the following changes this year: To preserve the cherished and authentic atmosphere of the nativity, we will be asking people to NOT wear a mask while they are outdoors portraying a character. To facilitate a safe environment, we are requesting people to sign up in households groups for the angels as well as the Mary & Joseph characters. Wisemen & shepherds can safely distance outdoors without masking.

Volunteers are needed to play parts, kitchen help and help with costume changes. Sign-up sheets for live characters are located on the Communications Table. Or feel free to call and we can find a spot to add you and/or your family to the list. Call Eldon @815-878-5738 or Nathan @815-719-3058.

Keep your family tradition or start a new one by driving or walking through this years Live Nativity Event at Walnut Community Bible Church.

Feast of Trumpets Breakout Discussion Questions: 4-26-2020

We hope that our church body will continue in breakout style discussion over the phone and in other creative ways as well.  Eldon has provided small group questions to facilitate the post sermon discussions. Even though we have to keep our social distance, we sincerely hope that we can be spiritually near to one another.

  1. Based on the examples of the trumpet calls described in the Old Testament today, what do you think is the primary purpose of the trumpet call when Jesus returns?  Do you think it has different connotations for different groups?
  2. In the Jewish community, the feast of trumpets is a time of repentance focused around the example of the submissive attitude of Isaac in Genesis 22.  As you re-read that story, in what ways can our eyes be opened to see Jesus?  How does it relate to what Eldon has preached today?
  3. Can you remember a specific time in your journey of faith that God opened your eyes to a particular truth in His Word?  Can you share an example?

And Elisha prayed, “O LORDopen his eyes so he may see. 2 Kings 6:20

Palm Sunday Breakout Discussion Questions

We hope that our church body will continue in breakout style discussion over the phone and in other creative ways as well.  Eldon has provided small group questions to facilitate the post sermon discussions. Even though we have to keep our social distance, we sincerely hope that we can be spiritually near to one another.

  1. Have you seen Jesus provide in easy, apparent ways like a donkey you didn’t even have to search for?  List some examples.
  2. Have there been other provisions from Him that took more effort on your part?  List some examples.
  3. If Jesus says, “I will build my church and gates of Hades will not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18)  what actions or behaviors do you think He expects of us, His church?
  4. If your life is represented by a ride in an airplane, do you live more like Jesus is your co-pilot or like you are the co-pilot?
  5. Would it ever be appropriate to think of yourself simply as a passenger on a plane that Jesus flies alone?

The Lord bless you
    and keep you;
The Lord make his face shine on you
    and be gracious to you;
The Lord turn his face toward you
    and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26 NIV
