Making Neighbors
Jesus ask the Jews to question a common thought and philosophy of their time period. Jesus is challenging these peoples mantra to love their neighbors and hate their enemies. Jesus calls people to love their neighbors as themselves and love their enemies. Jesus himself defines our neighbor in the story of the good Samaritan as people in our path of life that need help. Unfortunately, we seem to be living in a time where people seem to spend more time looking for enemies than neighbors. We need to remember that we ourselves were once enemies of God and He loved us and sent his Son Jesus. We need to be sharing His love with those in our lives.
Note: In this sermon Eldon loses the verse about how to treat the stranger or alien in your land. The passage is found in Leviticus 23:1-13.
