Bible Text: Mark 1:21-38, Psalm 46:10, Psalms 37:7, Matthew 12:1-14, Mark 2:23-28, Exodus 6:6-7, Matthew 11:28-30, Galatians 5:1, Matthew 5:17-18, Hebrews 4:10, Romans 3:10, Colossians 2:13-17 | Speaker: Eldon Cook | Series: Opening Our Eyes | The Sabbath was a gift given to man to rest and come into God’s presence, taking time to be quiet and listen to what God wants to say to us. Through time man added layers upon layers of rules to the Sabbath. Jesus would redefine man’s understanding of an over-regulated Sabbath by breaking man-made rules and fulfilling God’s plan. Jesus who has finished the work and is the fulfillment of the law wants us to find rest in himself through faith. We need to find rest in Jesus not in a day, or a regulation, but in relying on his finished work and the opening of a new type of communion with God, to stand in his presence, to hear his voice, and to be led by his hand. We can experience the fellowship that God designed for us to have in him a relationship with God is available. The Sabbath is not a day, but rather is found in faith in Christ and his finished work. Take time to be quiet, to be still, and to rest in your relationship with God through Jesus.
