Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
At WCBC children are welcome. Children are welcome in the Sunday services but may also may choose to attend children’s church or nursery. Sunday school classes are offered each Sunday after the morning service. Other events for children and families include Jingle all the Way, Vacation Bible School, and the Live Nativity.
Nursery:While children are welcome in the services, the younger set may choose to hang out in the nursery. Plenty of toys to play with and kind caregivers to ensure that their time is enjoyable during the Sunday service.
Children’s Church: 3 to 8 years old are invited to children’s church which includes a lesson and a craft. Children are dismissed from the sanctuary before the sermon. Children’s Church meets on Sundays but not on the first Sunday of the month. Check the bulletin for availability each Sunday.
Breakout Classes: 18 months old to 5th graders are able to participate in Sunday school classes after the morning service from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Separate Junior High and High School classes are available for the youth. Breakout classes do not meet during the month of August.
Kool Kids:Students grades K-5 meet at WCBC each Wednesday for a fantastic children’s program that merges both faith and fun. Meetings are held from 3:15-5:00 pm on full-length school days. When Wednesday is a half day at Bureau Valley, Kool Kids leaders will be in The Rock at WCBC to oversee some games, homework, and faith based activities. Volunteer help is always welcomed. Baby Dedications: Blessing the children and encouraging new parents is a long tradition of the Christian faith. Be sure to talk to Eldon to plan plan your baby dedication.
Vacation Bible School: Kids have fun each summer at VBS. The dates vary each year and are usually determined by the end of May. VBS is generally held in the evening hours. The last couple of years children have enjoyed the Bible story time, crafts, science, and game time.
Jingle All the Way: Near Christmas kids are invited to join us at the church for games and crafts while parents get ready for Christmas.
Live Nativity: Come Christmas, be sure to drive the family through the Live Nativity often held the weekend before Christmas day. Make it a family tradition and enjoy the cocoa and cookies you receive at the end.
Children’s Choir:For a number of years now children participated in a handbell choir. The handbell choir often performs a couple of weeks before Christmas and around Easter. Everyone enjoys the children’s choirs.
